ExaGrid Systems Reports Record Q3 2011 Results
Company Sales Grew By More Than 30 Percent, Award Wins Set High Bar for Disk-Based Backup Companies
Westborough, Mass., October 4, 2011 – ExaGrid Systems, Inc. (http://www.exagrid.com), the leader in cost-effective and scalable disk-based backup solutions with data deduplication, today announced a record quarter for the third fiscal quarter of 2011. Sales grew by more than 30 percent over the same quarter for 2010. During the quarter the company expanded its partner network and grew technology partnerships, announced additional backup appliance support and gained significant award recognition in the process.
Along with strong sales growth, the company continued to execute in a variety of important areas during the quarter. Key achievements in Q3 include the following:
- Growing Global Market Share: With more than 1,100 customers, ExaGrid grew its customer base and worldwide market share. ExaGrid maintains the industry’s largest installed base of scalable disk backup appliances with data deduplication in mid-market and small enterprise companies, with more than 3,500 systems installed worldwide. Over 50 percent of ExaGrid’s customers have eliminated tape in their storage environments using ExaGrid appliances for both onsite and offsite disaster recovery backups.
- Industry Recognition and Leadership: ExaGrid’s EX13000E was rated “Best-in-Class” in the 2011 DCIG Midrange Deduplication Appliance Buyer’s Guide, beating out 37 different deduplication solutions from a variety of vendors for its functionality and capabilities. ExaGrid appliances secured the three top ratings and seven of the top ten. ExaGrid was also cited by Gartner as the “top emerging vendor” in customer interest for disk backup appliances by midsize businesses. During the quarter, ExaGrid channel partner Radiant Resources’ president, Jennifer Naughton, was also recognized as one of the “Women of the Channel” by CRN.
- Customer Support Recognition: ExaGrid received high scores for its product and customer support from this year’s Net Promoter Survey (NPS)—at a level comparable to Apple in consumer Net Promoter benchmarks. The majority of ExaGrid customers reported backup window reductions of 50 percent to more than 90 percent, faster restore times and less IT time spent managing backups.
- Additional Backup Application Support: ExaGrid is adding to its long list of supported backup applications with support for IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM), shipping in Q4 2011. TSM joins an impressive list of supported backup applications and utilities from CA, CommVault, EMC, HP, Symantec, Quest, Veeam, and others.
- Strengthened Industry Partnerships: ExaGrid launched a partnership with LaserVault which provides new integrated solutions to support the IBM iSeries/AS-400. ExaGrid and Veeam Software also announced their partnership to improve the recoverability of virtual machines (VMs). The integrated solution, which pairs Veeam’s industry-leading Backup & Replication™ and ExaGrid′s unique landing zone architecture, provides fast backups, efficient data storage and retrieval, and the ability to instantly recover and run a VM directly from the ExaGrid appliance.
- Channel Partner Growth: This quarter alone, ExaGrid added 45 new reseller partners to its program, which expanded the base of ExaGrid partners to nearly 450 VARs worldwide. ExaGrid delivered 95 percent of the company's business through channel partners and continued to successfully scale its global channel sales model to meet growing business demands.
- 260 ExaGrid Customer Success Stories and Video Testimonials: First-hand experiences with ExaGrid are published on the company’s website, including new case studies from leaders such as International Mission Board, Midwest Bank, Pentax Medical Company, the State University of New York (SUNY) Update Medical Center, and SUNY Cortland.
“Our record growth and industry recognition helped continue to establish ExaGrid’s industry leadership,” said Bill Andrews, president and CEO of ExaGrid Systems. “We continue to see a substantial number of customers choosing ExaGrid, a testament to our superior performance, scalability, price, and customer support. The results from the Net Promoter Survey and the DCIG recognition further support ExaGrid’s leadership position in the market.”
About ExaGrid’s Technology:
The ExaGrid system is a plug-and-play disk backup appliance that works with existing backup applications and enables faster and more reliable backups and restores. Customers report that backup time is reduced by 30 to 90 percent over traditional tape backup. ExaGrid’s patented byte-level data deduplication technology and most recent backup compression reduces the amount of disk space needed by a range of 10:1 to as high as 50:1 or more, resulting in a cost that’s comparable to traditional tape-based backup.
