ExaGrid Customer, Gardner Trucking, Wins Info Security Products Guide Award

Disk Backup Solution Saves Gardner Trucking Estimated $200K Two Days After Installation

Westborough, – Mass. September 15, 2009 – ExaGrid Systems, Inc., the leader in cost-effective and scalable disk-based backup solutions with data deduplication, today announced that Info Security Products Guide, the industry’s leading publication on security-related products and technologies, named ExaGrid’s customer, Gardner Trucking, winner of the 2009 Best Deployment Scenario Awards in Data Recovery. This prestigious award recognizes security and security-related vendors with advanced, ground-breaking solutions that are helping set the bar higher in all areas of information security and storage. The ExaGrid/Gardner Trucking success — “ExaGrid’s disk-based backup solution saves Gardner Trucking an estimated $200K 24 hours after installation” — was selected based on a real-world solution deployment making a positive impact on security in today’s highly sophisticated and blended attacks environment.

After enduring months of problems with tape backups, the IT staff at Gardner Trucking led by CIO Gary Larson chose ExaGrid’s disk-based backup system with data deduplication based on its scalability and unique approach to data deduplication. Price was another major factor influencing the Gardner IT team’s decision-making, and the ExaGrid system offered a competitive price with significantly better performance than other disk-based backup solutions. ExaGrid’s data deduplication technology allowed for the purchase and use of less disk space, and the ExaGrid system cost approximately 25 percent of the cost of competitive solutions. Coincidentally, two days after Gardner Trucking installed the ExaGrid disk-based backup system and switched from tape, a database crashed. With the new backup system in place, it took only 25 minutes to restore the data.  Most importantly, Gardner avoided two days of system downtime and an estimated loss of $200,000 in business and productivity if they had to restore their database from tape. “The most powerful message security and storage vendors can ever give to prove their capabilities and continued commitment in solving customer’s security needs is through successful deployments,” says Rake Narang, editor-in-chief, Info Security Products Guide. “ExaGrid’s successful deployment at Gardner Trucking helps solve the frustrating, time-consuming and costly process of tape backup – not to mention saving the company hours and money after a database crash. Disk backup also removes the risk of data on tapes, which are often unreliable, difficult to restore from, and can be easily lost or stolen.”

“Info Security Products Guide’s recognition of ExaGrid’s deployment at Gardner Trucking further validates our commitment to our customers to provide scalable, secure, disk-based data backup solutions that are also cost-effective,” said Bill Andrews, CEO of ExaGrid. “Deploying successful backup storage solutions is the cornerstone of our business, and Gardner Trucking’s story is one of hundreds of examples of satisfied ExaGrid customers.”
