Board of Directors

Bill Andrews
President and CEO

Bill has over 20 years of experience in high-tech marketing and has led numerous teams in high-growth companies. Most recently, Bill was the vice president of marketing for Pedestal Software. Pedestal quickly became a leader in the security auditing space. Pedestal was acquired by Altiris, a public company.

Before joining Pedestal Software, Bill was the senior vice president of marketing and sales for eDial, a developer of Voice over IP (VoIP) software. Prior to eDial, Bill was general manager of Adero’s streaming media business unit. Bill came to Adero via Adero’s acquisition of StarBurst. At StarBurst, Bill served as vice president of marketing and sales. Bill repositioned the company and guided StarBurst into an industry leadership position with 100 percent annual growth. Bill also held vice president of marketing and vice president of sales positions at Live Vault, Microcom and Bitstream. Earlier in his career, Bill held a series of marketing and sales roles at Data General and Compugraphic. He is a graduate of Fitchburg State College and holds a BS in Industrial Technology.

Dave Therrien
Chief Technical Officer and Founder

Dave has over 35 years of experience in the development of data storage and data management products. Prior to ExaGrid, Dave was a key contributor to the success of a number of startup companies, including Storage Networks, HighGround Systems and Epoch Systems. Dave has a BSEE from Northeastern University and is an active member of the IEEE Computer Society and the ACM and Usenix professional organizations. Dave’s passions include guitar, photography and kayaking.

Sean Dalton
General Partner, Highland Capital Partners

Sean Dalton is a General Partner with Highland Capital Partners, focusing on disruptive technologies in the mobile, enterprise and media markets. He represents Highland on the boards of CENX, ClearSky Data, ExaGrid, Infinio, Movik Networks, QD Vision and Zoove and also actively works with Moka5. Recognized multiple times by the Forbes Midas List as one of the top venture capitalists in the industry, Sean’s previous board seats include AccessLan Communications (acquired by Advanced Fibre Communications), Altiga Networks (acquired by Cisco), CCTV Wireless (acquired by TerreStar), CHiL Semiconductor (acquired by International Rectifier), Covergence (acquired by Acme Packet), Envoy Networks (acquired by Texas Instruments), Ocular Networks (acquired by Tellabs), Optasite (acquired by SBA Communications), P.A. Semi (acquired by Apple), Starent Networks (IPO and subsequently acquired by Cisco), and Telica (acquired by Alcatel/Lucent). Previously Sean acted as Venture Associate—focusing on communications and electronic commerce—at Fidelity Capital. Before that, he was a Product Manager for GTE (now Verizon), leading the nation’s first DSL trial for Internet access.

Sean holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, an M.S., Electrical Engineering from University of Pennsylvania and a B.S., Electrical Engineering from University of Delaware.

Bob Davoli
Managing Director, Sigma Partners

Bob joined Sigma in 1995. He has over 20 years of experience in the high technology industry. Most recently he was President and CEO of Epoch Systems, the leading vendor of client-server data management software products. He sold the firm in 1993 to EMC for $141 million. Previously, he was the Founder, President and CEO of SQL Solutions, a leading purveyor of services and tools for the relational database market. He sold SQL Solutions to Sybase for stock eventually worth over $100 million. Today the SQL Solutions consulting and system administration tools division of Sybase has over $300 million in annual revenues. He served as an executive officer of Sybase for over two years. Bob has a B.A. in History from Ricker College and studied computer science at Northeastern University. He has been responsible for Sigma’s investments in Aprimo, CapitalEngine, Cerulean Technology, Context Integration, Dazel Corporation, eDocs, eRunway, Excara, Excelergy, Global Food Exchange, Idiom Technologies, Internet Business Advantages, Internet Security Systems, Octane Software, Riverton Software Corporation, ServiceSoft Corporation, StorageNetworks, Tradex Technologies, Versata, Vignette Corporation, Vettro, Viveca Software and Visual Mining.

Brian K. Paul
Managing Director, Tenaya Capital

Brian Paul is a Managing Director of Tenaya Capital. Previously, Brian worked in Lehman Brothers’ Global Technology and Healthcare Investment Banking groups in New York, London and Los Angeles. Within these groups, Brian was responsible for public and private equity offerings as well as strategic advisory assignments. Before joining Lehman Brothers in 1994, Brian was at First Boston, where he was responsible for the purchase and sale of mortgage loan portfolios.

Mr. Paul holds an M.B.A. with distinction from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management and a B.S. in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Jose Suarez
Managing Director, Investor Growth Capital

Jose Suarez is a managing director of Investor Growth Capital and joined Investor AB’s Asian operations in 1997, and is now based in IGC’s Menlo Park, California office. Mr. Suarez focuses on the semiconductor and hardware infrastructure sectors. He currently serves as a director on the boards of Atrenta Inc., Chelsio Communications, eSilicon Corporation, Innovative Micro Technology, Magnum Semiconductor, and Millennium Microtech.

Mr. Suarez has a B.A. in Asian Studies from Dartmouth College.
